Product Materials

Material and grade are two terms that refer to the properties of a magnet. Devens USA’s stock magnets are mostly Grade N40 Neodymium Iron Boron. There are also other common materials like SmCo, AlNiCo and Ferrite Magnets listed. These can be made to order in magnets for sale.

TYPES OF MAGNET CHARACTERISTICS
Neodymium Iron Boron (NdFeB) The strongest Magnets available commercially. To prevent oxidation, the magnets are plated.
Samarium Cobalt (SmCo) NdFeB Magnets have a higher maximum operating temperature. NdFeB Magnets have a higher maximum operating temperatures.
Bonded Neodymium Iron Boron NdFeB cast or molded suspended in epoxy resin. SmCo has a lower strength, but is more flexible. Tooling required.
Ferrite It is hard and highly brittle. Magnetism remains constant at high temperatures. Highly resistant to corrosion. Weaker magnets than NdFeB.
Flexible (Rubberized) A rubber resin is suspended with ferrite magnetic powder. Flexible and resistant to corrosion. Magnets with a stronger field can disrupt and alter the magnetic field.
